Contemporary western cosmology loves discussing what happened after the so-called big bang, but gets into terrible trouble with what happened before it, probably because its theories of time, space, matter, and basically everything only work after the bang — a bang they had to invent so their theories can exist at all.
A basic unwillingness to imagine anything beyond what we can measure or capture in post-bang mathematics leaves the pre-bang state of things open to the most idle of speculation, and begs a dialogue which I assert must give serious consideration to chickens as the fundamental basis for any conceptualisation of the void that is "our" proto-cosmos. :)
